Activity 2: Assessment of toxic element in the tsunami sediment
Analysis report with recommendations to be implemented by countries selected, of toxic elements in sediment in tsunami affected areas using nuclear analytical techniques completed

Target:
- Analysis and evaluation for minimum of one sediment sample at selected site at low-tide in Indonesia and Thailand completed.
- First year progress report completed and shared with the member countries.

Activity 3: Assessment of water and soil
Analysis report with recommendations to be implemented by countries selected, of contamination of surface and ground water, and agricultural land due to sediment deposition and seawater infusion caused by tsunami using nuclear analytical techniques completed

Target:
- Analysis and evaluation of minimum of one surface water, one groundwater and soil samples at selected sites in India and Sri Lanka completed.
- First year progress report completed and shared with the member countries.

Analysis report with recommendations to be implemented by countries selected, of impact of tsunami-deposited sediment contamination on the health and long-term viability of coral reefs and associated fisheries.

- Analysis and evaluation of sediment and coral samples completed at the selected sites in Philippines and Australia.
