Pakistan and UNDP - UNICEF agreed on 25 May 2004 to a US$ 428,000 project to help remove arsenic from drinking water in nearly 600 schools in Pakistan's Sindh and Punjab provinces.
The two agencies will work with the Ministry of Science and Technology and local governments to mobilize the community and teachers, and to install 240 water treatment plants. At least 250,000 people will benefit from the project. (Source: UNDP)
