The three-day hybrid event brought together more than 50 in-person attendees and over 130 virtual participants from across the Asia-Pacific region. The event marked the RCA’s first initiative dedicated to gender equity in the nuclear field, following recommendations from the 39th RCARO Standing Advisory Committee and the 53rd RCA GCM. The workshop served as a dynamic platform for sharing success stories, assessing the status of gender representation, and fostering actionable strategies for empowering women in nuclear science and technology. The Opening Session featured remarks from Mr. Taek Ryeol Jeong, Director General at the Ministry of Science and ICT ; Ms. Lili Xiao, Former RCA Chair; and Mr. Dae Ki Kim, Director of the RCA Regional Office. Their messages underscored the importance of collective efforts in addressing gender imbalances within the RCA framework and beyond. Structured around key sessions, the workshop addressed: - Global and Regional Initiatives led by organizations such as the IAEA and UN Women, - Success stories of women in nuclear in the region - National challenges and opportunities - Future Directions to enhance female representation in the RCA Programme. This landmark workshop has not only highlighted the underrepresentation of women in the RCA region but also strengthened regional commitment toward gender equity in nuclear science and technology.
